Just drawing to a close at Edinburgh’s Royal Lyceum Theatre is a unique representation of Shakespeare’s Macbeth. Adapted by Giuseppe Verdi and presented by the Edinburgh Grand Opera, this exciting new approach to a classic play has been garnering great reviews throughout the city.
However, this September sees Macbeth return to Edinburgh once again, but this time staying true to the original. Again performed in the classic Lyceum Theatre just off Lothian Road and Meadows, theatre enthusiasts and city break visitors alike can enjoy this powerful and gripping classic come late-summer.
Just around the corner from the Lyceum is the city’s popular (and impressive) Quartermile; a stylish and contemporary complex standing where Edinburgh’s Royal Infirmary once thrived. Full of history yet modern and convenient, why not book a theatre weekend in one of our very own Quartermile apartments?

The Emirates Airline Edinburgh 7s
Over 13,500 runners took part in Sunday’s annual Edinburgh Marathon, despite the sudden city heat wave. Not only was it a great day out in itself, but the route the run took encompassed many of Edinburgh highlights and attractions; from The Meadows and Holyrood Park, to the Old Town and finally Musselburgh Racecourse.
However, from one major sporting event to another, Edinburgh is now gearing up for rugby season at Murrayfield Stadium. Each May and June, Scotland’s national stadium hosts a number of national and international rugby events, with the Murrayfield Magic Weekend Edinburgh Rugby League and the Emirates Airline Edinburgh 7s Festival being the two biggest draws.
The Emirates 7s welcome in some of the most technically skilful and dynamic seven-aside teams the world has to offer, all playing against each other in amongst a real festival atmosphere. Not just for Scottish rugby fans either, the weekend is full of family attractions off the pitch too, from face painting to fairground rides, and of course the city comes alive later in the evening. For the finest post-match drinking, head to The Grass Market. It’s not too late to book some of Edinburgh’s finest accommodation either and make it a real weekend to remember.

Edinburgh temperatures rise!
Summer seems to have come a little early in Edinburgh, as last weekend saw the hottest day of the year so far. Though only late-May, the temperature was tipping 27 degrees Celsius in Scotland’s capital, with the sudden heat sparking the start of the summer holidays in Edinburgh. If it’s this hot in May, who knows what the summer’s got in store.

Book now for a summer break in Edinburgh
Even though it’s still spring, summer is fast approaching in Edinburgh, and the sun’s been out all week to prove it. Not only that but the blossom’s on the trees in The Meadows and Princes Street Gardens have been packed with Edinburgers enjoying the sun!
It’s this time of year that people slowly but surely start to plan ahead, mainly for the famous Edinburgh Festival in August. If you’ve never been to Edinburgh during the festival, it should be on your itinerary for sure, as there’s nowhere on earth quite like it.
Made up of 11 individual festivals each taking place during August, the Edinburgh Festival is perhaps the largest cultural festival on the planet.
Lucky for us, our Edinburgh luxury apartments are all perfectly placed to make the very most of the festival, from sitting right next to Holyrood Park to bang in the centre of the Royal Mile, and also within Edinburgh’s very cool Quarter Mile development, overlooking The Meadows.
We’ve got your summer break accommodation covered at St Giles Apartments, so get in touch and let us know what we can do for you.
